NAIDOC stands for 'National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee'. The week has centred around the theme "Always Was, Always Will Be" to recognise that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. It's important we all take the time to see, hear, and learn the First Nations’ +65,000 year history of this country - which is Australian history. Each class has been learning about our First Nations people, their understanding and interaction with the native environment and their special connection to the land. Our large seasons mural has been a useful teaching resource for our children, especially during this week.
Remembrance Day Wednesday 11/11
Our Remembrance Day service was an especially poignant and moving commemoration that the children engaged in reverently. During this week we have been also learning about why we celebrate this day each year and the sacrifice made by so many in the conflicts where Australians have served on behalf of our country. The significance of the poppy and how this reminds us of the sacrifice made went together with many of the children creating their own poppy and wearing it on Wednesday.
Confirmation
This weekend sees the 2nd group of students from Year Six receive their final sacrament of initiation, the Sacrament of Confirmation, with Archbishop Costelloe to preside over the ceremony on Sunday morning. This journey, especially this year has been a difficult one. The outstanding work of the teaching and other staff and the leadership team, together with Fr Wilson has ensured that the ceremony can be conducted where many in the archdiocese this year have not been able to. We send out special prayers and blessings on these young people who are now seen as full members of our catholic community.
Fee Relief- Covid-19 or otherwise
For those families who are struggling financially, whether it be Covid related or because of other circumstance, I once again urge you to come and discuss your situation with us so we can help you through this difficult time. We as a Catholic school are committed to supporting everyone who requires assistance. All conversations are confidential and do not impact in any way on your child’s education.
Have a great weekend.

Piano Tuition at St Kieran in 2021
Enrolments are now being taken for Piano Tuition being held at St Kieran by a registered teacher with over 30 years’ experience.
Lessons are one on one, not group lessons, and are held throughout the school term. They are alternated each week so that the same class lesson will not be affected.
It is most important that you have either a piano or keyboard to practice on.
Limited places are available so book in early to avoid disappointment.
For further details or to enrol please contact Priscilla Smith on 0414 418 568.
