Over the past couple of weeks, work has progressed rapidly on the refit of the grotto area. A significant amount of work has progressed in the area and it should be completed sometime next week. The design for the centenary garden and walk is based on that of the labyrinth, which has strong links to our faith allowing us to use this space for reflection and contemplation.
Last week we began our Friday school assemblies online, live streaming to each classroom. The rules around large gatherings at this moment require us to look at different ways where we can engage the entire school. The students have been really quite resilient in dealing with those changes and the student leadership group should be congratulated for their agility and “can do” attitude and ensuring that these new processes are working effectively.
Parents of students in Year Three and Four will have received information regarding the recommencement of their sacramental programme preparation, although in a changed format than previously planned earlier in the school year. Families in Year Six have yet to be notified regarding what is to occur for Confirmation as this information has yet to be provided by the Perth Archdiocese. We will continue to inform parents of any changes that will occur in the parish sacramental programme as soon as it becomes available to us, based on the advice that we receive from both Catholic Education WA and the Perth Archdiocese.
This week the school commenced a project to upgrade the administration and financial package that the school uses. This is part of a statewide roll out across all 128 Catholic education primary schools, of which our school is in the final 10 to have the software installed. The work required is to firstly prepare for the software upgrades and then work with the new package. Please be aware that this is putting an extra workload on office staff to prepare for the migration of data. The school is putting extra staff into place to ease this workload. There will be some changes to financial and administrative processes, and we may need to contact you to ensure we have the correct information, for example in the new system everyone needs to have an email address. If we do not have that information, the admin staff will be in contact with you. In order to minimise the disruption to families regarding updates of information, please wait for us to contact you.
Over the past few weeks, a number of uniforms have gone missing, many of these with the child’s name clearly labelled on the item. Can we please request that over the weekend you check all uniforms for names and send back any that are labelled with another child’s name. We understand that children can easily mix up and grab the wrong jumper or hat, but when they are clearly marked we need our parents and guardians to return them to school as soon as they discover the wrong uniform has been brought home. There will be no questions asked, especially when the items are returned in a timely manner.

As part of the enrolment process, we have been using online meetings with parents to ensure a fair and equitable process was experienced by everyone, including those previously interviewed several weeks ago. As part of this process, we have created a short video to allow these parents to have a visual tour of our school so that they can get an impression and experience the atmosphere as they are still not able to walk through the school. If you haven't seen it on our Facebook page, you can find the video below.
Have a great weekend!
