Parent Teacher Meeting Feedback
Thanks for the Feedback! - 86 of you gave us some great feedback regarding the parent-teacher meetings. Most respondents were happy with the process. A small number would like more time to meet with the teacher and 100% of the respondents thought the booking system worked really well and that you received really good information regarding your child. We will look at how we can use this feedback to make our meeting process better next time.
P&F Association
You will have received an email from me earlier today regarding the future direction of the P&F. I would appreciate you taking the time to see if you are the type of person who may be able to be a class representative If you think you are then please make contact with us as described in the email.
Attendance
As we complete Term 1, I would like to share some data with you regarding attendance. Every school is required to send attendance data to the Federal Government twice a year, which is then placed on the Myschool website as a piece of information used for comparison across schools. Over the past several years this percentage has stayed between 92-95% meaning, on average, that children in our school will miss between 8-12 days over the year.
Where attendance drops below 90% at the end of Term 1 then I am required to make contact with families to discuss what can be done to rectify this issue. If your child's attendance drops below 90% it means that they are missing at least 1 day every fortnight which over the course of the year indicates that they are missing almost half a term of school. If this was to continue over their 13 years at school that is the equivalent of missing well over a year from school.
Developing the habit of going to school every day is vital so children do not miss out on important ideas and skills they need for future learning.
Easter and Holy Week
Father Wilson is looking for someone who could assist in the preparation of children from the parish for the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. It would require a couple of practice sessions next week and perhaps one or two sessions during Holy Week. If you could offer a couple of hours in helping with this then please contact the office and we will pass your details on to Father or you could offer your services directly to him at this weekend’s Masses.
With swimming occurring throughout next week and with Holy Week a further week away we will be holding our own class-based stations of the cross during the week. We thank the Yr 5 students and teachers for setting up these prayerful sessions around our school and look forward to being able to prepare and reflect during this important church season.
Have a great weekend.
