Principal News

Thank you to the wonderful and large number of parents and guardians who attended our open evening on Wednesday. The night also gave us the opportunity to publically thank the State Government for the generous grant of $1.1M to assist the school in ensuring we have classrooms for our children that are flexible to meet their needs. Below I have included my thank you list as it is important to acknowledge a number of people in the complete project.

I have the very pleasant and final part of tonight’s official ceremony, to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the Stage 7 Build.

Firstly, to our local parliamentarian David Michael MLA for Balcatta. Thank you for finding time in your busy parliamentary sitting schedule and for being a very big part of securing the funding for the building program. Please pass onto the Premier and Minister for Education our sincerest thanks and gratitude for providing our school with this amazing opportunity to refurbish our existing classrooms and build a new classroom that allows our school to be fully self-contained.

To Sally Matthews and Mathew Omodei our architects who have designed something that will serve the school community for many years to come. Your insight, imagination and eye for detail have been first class, as have your problem-solving skills working with such a difficult refurbishment. We appreciate your time and expertise.

To Ross Leighton owner of Metrocon and Grant Shirley, the foreman for the project.  Your ability to deal with many obstacles and still complete the project on time demonstrate a willingness to do whatever was needed to get the job done. Grant, you certainly epitomise the hard-working foreman that we all hope we get to work with on such a building project.

To Peter Yensch, who is here representing Catholic Education WA, can you pass on our thanks to the many staff in the Catholic Education office who played their part in ensuring the project was a great success, especially Suzie Richards who worked with the school on the majority of the project before taking maternity leave.

To Gary McAllister our school board rep whose knowledge and feedback was invaluable as part of the school building team. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated.

Thank you to Servite College and their Principal Jeff Allen on your willingness to support and accommodate us during the build and especially in assisting us in the creation of the new entrance from our drop offline that we now share with Servite.

Finally, my sincere thanks to all staff, students and parents who put up with the inconvenience of the build in such a tight and confined space. A special thank you to the three assistant principals who were part of the project;  Andrea Woodgate, Sally Hart and Sacha Doepel who supported me during the many difficulties of the build.

Have a great weekend.
