Principal's Message

Dear Lord,
We ask that you be present in this space.
Lord, as we prepare for the coming of a new term make us ready,
attentive and available to hear you.
Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day,
with the assurance that You walk through it with us.
Thank You for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness,
and the energy to put them to good use.
May all that we are today, all that we try to do today,
may all our encounters, reflections,
even the frustrations and failings all be place in your hands.
May the work we do and the way we do it,
bring new hope, new life, and courage to all we come in contact with this semester.
We thank you, Lord.
We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord,
Amen.

We hope this newsletter finds you refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for an exciting journey as we embark on Term 3! We extend a warm welcome to both our returning students and those who have just joined our school community for the first time. It's going to be a wonderful term filled with opportunities for growth, discovery, and achievement.

As we resume a new term, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents and families for your unwavering support and involvement in your child's education. Your partnership is instrumental in creating a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

To ensure a successful and productive term, open lines of communication between home and school are vital. We encourage parents and guardians to actively engage with our staff and keep an eye on our school's communication channels for important updates, events, and information. If you haven't received information or are unsure don’t be afraid to ask the class teachers or administration staff - don’t leave it until the last minute. Together, let's make Term 3 a great one!

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Take care and stay safe.

Mr Daine Burnett
Principal

School Calendar

A reminder to all families to continue to check the school calendar on our website for dates and events that are coming up during the term. There is a pupil free day on Friday 22nd August. We conclude Term 3 for students on Friday 26th July.

Staff News

This is to let you know that Mr Neil Pagett who was our Year 6 class teacher was successful in gaining another position over the school holidays which began from the start of this term and while a very quick process, Mrs Cara Lanyi was ready and waiting to return early from her leave which was a blessing for us. We thank Mr Pagett for being part of our community and wish him all the very best as he starts his new role. Welcome back to Mrs Lanyi.

School Nurse Introduction - Sarah Pfaff

My name is Sarah Pfaff and I am the School Nurse. I am a pediatric nurse, trained in the UK and then I moved out to Perth 14 years ago. This year is my 25th year of nursing (I certainly don’t feel old enough to have reached that milestone). My background is predominantly community nursing, specialising in working with children with complex health needs.

I have been working in schools for the past 4 years and I love the challenge it presents. You literally never know what is going to walk through the door!! I am passionate about student wellness and mental health and like to think I offer a holistic and family centered approach to care. The staff team and students at St Kieran’s have been so welcoming and I look forward to meeting some of you through the remainder of the year.

Please feel free to reach out should you want to discuss anything.

Sarah.Pfaff@cewa.edu.au

Kind Regards

Sarah

Library Technician Introduction - Toni Doherty

I am delighted to introduce myself as the St Kieran Library Technician for the remainder of the year. I have been working at St Kieran for 5 years as an Education Assistant, so my knowledge of our students and school community will help add value to the school library. I am motivated to help our students both develop and nurture a love of reading and to help them select books that engage their interests.

A big thank you to all students who have diligently returned library books this week to help ensure our library stock take is a success. Could any additional books yet to be returned, please be returned as soon as possible.

St Kieran will celebrate Book Week in Week 4, and I know that many students are already thinking about their Book Week costumes! The Theme for Book Week 2025 is “Book an Adventure” and students will be introduced to the theme during library sessions and in their classes. The Book Week dress-up day is Thursday, 14th August, with further details to follow.

Flyers will be distributed to all students tomorrow for our annual and much-anticipated Book Fair, which is during Book Week. The Book fair will be operating in the library from Monday 11thAugust to Thursday 14th August, with the following operational hours: 8.10am-8.40am and 3.00pm-3.30pm.

Regards

Toni Doherty

3 Year Old Kindy 2026 Enrolments

We are accepting 3 Year Old Kindy Enrolments for 2026, with interviews currently being conducted for students to start at St Kieran next year. All parents need to submit an application to make sure your child is enrolled for 3 Year Old Kindy at St Kieran Catholic Primary School for 2026.

If you have any questions or would like clarification, please ring or contact the School Administration.

Servite College Enrolments

We strongly encourage all families at St Kieran to ensure they have their enrolment application submitted at Servite College as soon as possible for their children. If families leave this process until the middle years of primary school, you maybe placed on a waiting list. The earlier your application is submitted to Servite College the better. A reminder that Servite and St Kieran are completely different schools with applications for enrolment submitted separately.

First Holy Communion

Good luck to the Year 4 students who are making their First Holy Communion this weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, as you embark on a new part of your sacramental journey. Thank you to all the staff especially Mrs O'Brien, Mr Bakic and Mr Davis for all their support and preparation.

Uniform

Thank you to everyone for making the effort to be in school uniform and following the guidelines during the term. A reminder that for the academic uniform the below shoes are to be worn - black lace up school shoes for both boys and girls. Please ensure your child wears the correct "V neck" jumper with the academic uniform and only wears the zip up jacket with the sports uniform. I would ask all parents to refer to the Uniform Policy on our school website. https://stkierancps.schoolzineplus.com/_file/media/2012/school_uniform_guidelines_2024.pdf

Seesaw

Can all parents make sure you have access to your child's Seesaw. Teachers constantly post assessment results and pieces during the term. This is a great way to keep you updated on the progress of your child.
