Principal's Message
Prayer for the End of the School Year
At the end of this school year we give thanks to God:
For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school,
both in and out of the classroom,
For the talents and gifts that have been shared
and the challenges that have been faced;
For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed;
For the respect and care that has been given.
We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown.
For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles,
For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days
And for the love that has kept us going.
We give thanks for the community that we are,
and we ask you Lord - Bless our students;
may your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness
Bless our families as we take our holidays,
may our time together leave us with memories to cherish.
Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
It has come to that time of the year where we not only say goodbye to our Year 6 class as they graduate but to all the families at St Kieran as we conclude 2024. In particular to the Year 6 class, you have been a great group of students and I know that you will do the best you can do and look back on your time at St Kieran as a wonderful time and time you will never forget. Take care and I do wish you all the very best.
To the families and staff members that will also conclude their time with us at St Kieran, we thank you all for being part of the this wonderful community - The St Kieran Family, and we wish you all the very best as you journey into the future and we hope that you leave us with fond memories and with the best of luck.
This is a year, like many others has flown by, when we take time to reflect on this year and the events that unfolded, I am extremely proud of the community, staff, students and parents and what we have been able to achieve.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone for another wonderful year at St Kieran Catholic Primary School. We are truly blessed to be involved in such an authentically faith driven community. Best wishes and may God bless you in all you do.
Have a wonderful Christmas, take care and stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all in 2025!
Best wishes and kind regards.

Understanding the Grading System
Is a ‘C’ grade good? Yes, you should celebrate C grades as this indicates that your child has progressed to the desired level of understanding for his/her year level.
Is a ‘C’ grade just a pass like it used to be? No, a C grade today, is the expected Achievement Standard for each year level and each Learning Area.
Does an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade mean my child is working a year or two above their current grade? No, an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade means that your child is responding to the content taught to a deeper level. They may be thinking more critically about the content, which is a wonderful skill to demonstrate.
How are final grades determined? Teachers collect numerous samples of work and assessments to determine the final grade. The grade is determined with the use of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority’s (SCSA) Judging Standards. For more information on this go to https://parent.scsa.wa.edu.au/
We hope this information assists you to understand the reporting process at St Kieran Catholic Primary School. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.

Uniform 2025
Just a reminder to all parents to not leave purchasing new uniforms until late in January as JFE get very busy. We have made a slight adjustment to our uniforms, now adding females navy shorts to our guidelines for 2025.The JFE showroom is open:
- Monday 8-4pm
- Tuesday 8-4pm
- Wednesday 8-4pm
- Thursday 8-4pm
- Friday 8-1.30pm
JFE - Unit 1/85 Guthrie Street - Osborne Park
Parents of children going in to Pre-Primary 2025 need to ensure that their children are in sports uniform.
Parents of children going in to Year 1 2025 need to ensure that their children are in full academic uniform.
Shoes, while we have been tolerant of these with the cost of living and pressures on families the correct shoes must be worn in 2025. I would ask all parents to refer to the Uniform Policy on our school website.

Celebrating International Day of People with Disability at St Kieran
At St Kieran, inclusion and respect are cornerstones of our school community. On December 3rd, we join millions around the world to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). This annual event is an opportunity to reflect on the value of diversity, promote understanding, and advocate for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities.
Why We Celebrate
Recognising IDPwD helps us to:
- Raise Awareness: By learning about disabilities, we can challenge stereotypes and reduce stigma, fostering empathy and understanding.
- Encourage Inclusion: We celebrate the unique contributions that people with disabilities bring to our community, emphasising the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels valued and included.
- Promote Advocacy: Highlighting the achievements and challenges of individuals with disabilities inspires action toward a more accessible and equitable society.
What It Means for St Kieran
Our school is committed to nurturing an environment where every student thrives. On this day, we reaffirm our dedication to supporting students with disabilities through inclusive education practices and by listening to the voices of our students and their families.
How We Will Celebrate
Our celebrations will include:
- Classroom discussions and activities to promote awareness and understanding.
- A showcase of student talents, highlighting the diverse abilities within our community.
- Opportunities for reflection and prayer, focusing on respect, compassion, and unity.
We invite all families to join us in celebrating this important day, working together to ensure that St Kieran continues to be a community that celebrates diversity and embraces inclusion every day of the year.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a place where all students can shine!
St Joseph’s Chapel - St Kieran Parish
We will build a chapel for St Joseph and child Jesus on the opposite side of the church, where Mary (Annunziata) Chapel is. The statue of St Joseph is being carved now overseas. We encourage the parishioners to help us in this next addition to our beautiful church. If you would like to donate some money for the statue of St Joseph or the stain glass and renovation of the room, you can talk to Fr. Wilson or Judith.
