Principal's Message
Prayer
Father in Heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom,
Mary, who bore the Christ in her womb,
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow Mary’s example in reflecting your holiness,
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Today we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary with a whole school celebration. It was wonderful to be able to share this experience with all the staff and students. Thank you to all the staff and students that took part in the Mass and had a role to play in sharing this celebration with us.
Have a great week and look after everyone.
Best wishes and take care.

School Calendar
Term 3 will see the school closed on Friday the 23rd August (Catholic Day) and Term 3 conclude for students on Thursday 19th September (Friday 20th September is a Staff Development Day).
Contact Details - Parents
It is imperative that parents and families update the school when your personal details change during the year. If you change you email address or mobile phone please ensure that the school administration is contacted so we can update these details for communication purposes.
Australian Girls Choir Workshop
On the 29th of August at 12:30pm in the Music Room, the Australian Girls Choir will be running an assessment workshop. This will be opened to girls from pre-primary to year 6 and will feature singing and movement activities. Participants will receive personalized assessment report and further information about 2025 classes. A form will be coming home next week (week 3) for those interested in joining!
Community Masses
St Kieran Catholic Primary School and St Kieran Parish have a longstanding, collaborative relationship. To sustain this, we will facilitate Community Masses with the Parish while remaining committed to our School Improvement goals.
To enhance students' understanding of their Faction Patrons and foster community spirit, we encourage students to wear faction colours at the Mass. The dates for this year’s Community Masses (Saturday 6:30pm) evening Mass at St Kieran Parish) are:
- 14 September - Frayne Faction (Mercy Day 24/9)
- 9 November - Mercy Faction (Passing of Catherine McAuley 11/11)
We would encourage families to set aside the dates for your child's Faction Mass and join the Parish for this wonderful celebration.
Unwell Students
As we are well and truly in the colder months can we please ask that unwell students are not sent to school. Our staff will call parents if a child is unwell or presents unwell - we are not trained medical staff and if a child says they are unwell or looks unwell we will call the families to collect them. Sending an unwell child to school in turn has an impact on the other students as well as the staff and of course the families at St Kieran. Your consideration around this matter is appreciated.
Book Week Parade 2024
Last Friday St Kieran had an abundance of different story book characters walking around the school as both students and staff embraced this year’s Book Week theme of Reading is Magic. Well done to those selected students from each year level who were awarded a book for the best homemade costume. It was wonderful to see the effort and time that went into many homemade costumes this year.
Kickability Fremantle Dockers Visit
On Monday 12th August, some of The Fremantle Docker players visited St Kieran to meet and coach our students with additional needs.
“The Western Australian All Abilities Football Association has a core purpose to provide the opportunity for people with a disability to be involved and participate in Australian rules football like every other Australian”.
A massive Thank You to all involved, it was really great to see all of the students having so much fun enjoying all the different games and activities. We can’t wait for Kickability’s next visit!
Kindy Farm Incursion
On Wednesday 14th August the Kindy students were lucky to get a visit from Farmer Mick and his farm animals. They got to learn all about his chickens, sheep, horse, ducks, rabbits, geese, goats and his very important sheep dog. They had so much fun learning about the animals and getting to hold and feed the baby animals.
Year 6 Youth Premier Visit
On Wednesday 14th August, the Year 6 students had a visit from the Hon Yovan Fidanovski who is the 28th Youth Premier of Western Australia. During his visit, he talked about the role of a minister in the Youth Parliament. The best part of the visit was creating a class law. Both classes debated the bill and voted on it in true parliament style!
Year Three and Four Inquiry Day, Let’s Investigate ‘Insects’
This week, during Science Week, the Year Three and Four classes took part in one of Scitech’s Sustainability Explorers Online Virtual Excursions, around this year’s National Science Week theme of, Species Survival.
The Year Three and Four classes registered for the topic of, ‘Insects’, which they viewed this morning. This topic prompted a day of inquiry learning which included a series of organized investigations and activities.
The children had lots of fun participating in these activities where wonderful learning, about insects, occurred. Great work, Year Three and Four students and teachers. See the photos below.
