Principal's Message
God, our Father,
is there no end to our responsibilities as parents.
We are grateful that you have never given up on us and are always available,
if we care to remember that you are there.
We pray that our children will remember that we are always there for them.
Amen
“Learning from Mistakes”, because a mistake is an unintentional error or misunderstanding. Mistakes can be painful when they occur but as time goes by they become known as experience and worthwhile, if we learn from them.
Before Albert Einstein eventually made the first successful light bulb, he made several thousand unsuccessful ones. When asked about his many failures, he is said to have replied, “I have not failed. I’ve discovered ten thousand ways which do not work.” Failure is often the forerunner to success; without errors being made, much of our modern knowledge and way of living would not exist.
Mistakes of themselves are not bad, they are part of the way in which we learn, grow and mature. Mistakes should be regarded as experiences, which give us information from which we can learn and make improved decisions – provided we don't take them too seriously. Likewise, we can only learn from a mistake if we take ownership of it and admit that we made it. As soon as we start to blame other people for what occurred, we begin to distance ourselves from any beneficial outcome. Accepting responsibility makes learning possible and though we can’t change mistakes, we can, if necessary, change how we respond to them.
When our children make mistakes, we should avoid making a big deal out of their mistake. Instead, much can be gained if we discuss with them what went wrong and how, in the future, they might be able to avoid the same thing going wrong again. They need to be assured that mistakes can be fixed and that these mistakes can be used as a way of learning how to find better ways to be successful.
Similar to adults, children need to also take responsibility for their mistakes and often we deprive them of this opportunity, if we remove the burden of responsibility from them by accepting their responsibility as our own or making excuses for them or the action. Our children will never learn about consequences, if there never are any and while these don’t need to be over the top realising that are results from our actions. If we have a gentle guiding hand to offer our children to help fix their mistakes and solve their problems, we will give them skills that will make them happy and enable them to grow to be productive and responsible young people. Children learn by example, so, if we as parents can demonstrate the proper responses to mistakes, our children will be able to model their own behaviour and expectations, after our own.
Lets be honest we are all really good at making mistakes, it is what we do! No one is perfect and while we all try our hardest we will always make mistakes. It is how we respond and learn from these mistakes that is the key.
We also wish all our Irish friends a Happy St Patrick's Day - if you have been into the office over the past 2/3 days you would see the spirt is well and truly alive!
Best wishes and take care.

Welcome Back to St Kieran
WOWEE….What a fantastic event - I was amazing at how many people were in attendance and seeing so many families enjoying the night was wonderful. A huge thank you to our brillant Kieran Connect team for coordinating everything behind the scenes and to those year levels that pinched in and helped out. We have had so much positive feedback and comments about the night. Make sure the next event gets put into your diaries straight away. Just a great way to start the year!
Student Attendance
As part of the guidelines for student attendance, staff will be sending out emails to parents to make you aware of any attendance concerns we currently have. At anytime a students attendance is below 90% they are missing substantial amounts of the curriculum which will hinder their potential to be successful learners.
Kieran Connect
We all know the hardest thing to find in our busy world is time. If you think you can spare some of this time, Kieran Connect would love some extra members. If you are interested in having a positive impact and helping out our school please contact Mr Burnett or kieranconnect@stkieran.wa.edu.au
Kindergarten Enrolments 2025
We are accepting Kindy Enrolment's for Kindy 2025 and later this term start organising interviews. Please don’t leave this until the last minute as we have many people we could not accommodate in 2024. Please submit your application and make sure you have your children enrolled at St Kieran Catholic Primary School.
Parking
Unfortunately this seems to be an ongoing concern and while many families do the right thing for everyone it continues to create frustrations for many. The school staff do not have the legal ability to enforce parent driving behaviours, however if you are putting a child at risk by not following our very simple instructions we will follow up with you and address this.
- DO NOT turn right into the Kiss and Drive - please wait your turn in the queue.
- Do NOT overtake the queue and push in front of the Kiss and Drive line. Be respectful of others.
- Keep the Corner of Tyler Street and Morgans Street free from all traffic.
- DO NOT pick up or drop your child off on the road outside of the administration - find a parking legal bay or use the Kiss and Drive.
- If you DO Not have an ACROD Permit please don’t use the disabled bays.
- Ciaran Centre Families are the only families welcome to use the front administration parking.
- DO NOT park at the Servite Friars house of residence and business - this is private property.
I do ask that families don’t use the Acrod Bays unless they have permit - we now have a large number of families that need these bays and recently have not been able to access these. Ciaran Centre families are more than welcome to use the bays at the front of the school as well.
Parking - Servite Friars and School
Just a reminder about parking to ensure that St Kieran families only park in the required designated areas. Please don’t park at the Servite Friars, including on their lawn and please don’t park in the Servite Staff areas. Servite College will be checking these areas and issuing reminder notices on cars that are not staff cars. Can you please give this your full attention as we need to be respectful of our neighbours.
